Diaper Deals & Changes to Amazon Mom

We usually do a once-a-month update on the best online diaper deals, and it’s never been any surprise- the best deals were always at Amazon. In fact, my poor lack of planning led me to Target for emergency diapers a few days ago, where I paid $10 for 31 Pampers Cruisers. First of all, that’s just a lot for diapers. Second of all, that’s really a lot when you consider what we’ve been able to buy them for at Amazon- around $33 for 186 of the same diaper, shipped to my door! For comparison, that’s $10 for 56 diapers. That’s a big difference.

But a few days ago, Amazon announced a pretty big change to their Amazon Mom program. Instead of offering anyone enrolled in the free Amazon Mom program a 20% additional discount on diapers, as of 1/24, the 20% discount will now only be offered to Amazon Mom members who are also paid Amazon Prime members ($79/year) or new Amazon Mom members for their first 3 months of membership. (Although the program is not accepting new members right now.) You can read all the details here in their FAQ.

So what does this mean for us? Well, most importantly for now, if you’re a current Amazon Mom member, you can order diapers and wipes with the additional 20% discount until 1/24 (although I’d do it sooner rather than later.) You’ll have to start a new subscribe & save subscription to do this (at least I did!) Personally, I just bought three boxes so I wouldn’t have to think about this again for a few months. Remember to check the price again when your next subscribe & save order ships, or you can cancel your subscription without obligation later.

In the long run, we’ll continue to look for online diaper deals wherever we can find them. If you’re like me and have been on the fence about Amazon Prime, now might be a good time to jump onboard. It’s $79 a year, or about $6.50 a month. If you’re buying one box of diapers a month, you’d definitely be able to save that much. And it would make it much easier to jump on a $2 inflatable space shuttle deal when shipping is free. There’s a whole bunch of other benefits that you can read about here too.
